In August 2026, India's tractor retail market saw a rise of 87,977 units, compared to 87,244 units in August 2025. This is an increase of 0.84% compared to the same period last year. In comparison to August last year, when 1,17,349 tractors were sold, sales dropped by approximately 25.03% YoY.

Mahindra & Mahindra continued to hold the top position in India’s tractor retail market during August 2026. The tractors segment accounted for sales of 20,703 units, accounting for 23.53% of the market share.
Swaraj continued to be the second-largest brand with 15,914 units, accounting for 18.09% market share. Swaraj and Mahindra contributed over 41% of the total tractor retail sales in the month.
The global market for International Tractors and Escorts Kubota has seen strong growth. International Tractors and Escorts Kubota are doing well in the global market.
International Tractors Limited was the other that saw an increase, with 11.818 units sold in August 2026, up 11.63% YoY from 10,586 units sold in August 2025.
Sales of Escorts' Kubota grew at the highest rate of any of the major tractor companies, at 12.57% YoY. It also gained a significant share of the market from 9.93% to 11.09%.
Positive growth in the month was observed for John Deere and CNH Industrial India.
Sales at TAFE fell by 2.26% year-on-year, and Eicher Tractors had a more significant 7.74% drop.
The category with the biggest drop was the Others category, dropping from 5,426 units in August 2025 to 2,952 units in August 2026.

The tractor market remained fairly level as it fell sharply month-on-month from July, but remained fairly level year-on-year for August 2026. Total sales increased by 733 units, from 87,244 units in August 2025 to 87,977 units in August 2026.
The major manufacturers' performances were mixed, but Mahindra, Swaraj, International Tractors, Escorts Kubota, John Deere and CNH Industrial India were able to register growth over the previous year.

Escorts Kubota and International Tractors were the most impressive, and TAFE and Eicher saw a drop. The year-over-year performance shows that sales from tractor were generally robust in August 2026 despite the reduced level of sales compared to July.
