Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Business began 2026 on a strong note, reporting a sharp rise in tractor sales for January. The company delivered 40,643 tractors during the month, posting an impressive 47% growth over January last year, when sales stood at 27,557 units.
The surge was mainly powered by India’s domestic market. Mahindra sold 38,484 tractors within the country, compared to 26,305 units in January 2025. This reflects a 46% increase, supported by healthy rural demand, active farming operations, and favourable agricultural conditions.
Exports also played a key role in the overall performance. Mahindra shipped 2,159 tractors overseas in January 2026, up from 1,252 units a year ago. This marks a strong 72% rise in exports, indicating growing acceptance of Mahindra tractors in international markets.
Mahindra’s growth story extends beyond January alone. For the period from April 2025 to January 2026, the company recorded total tractor sales of 447,235 units, compared with 364,180 units during the same period last year. This represents an overall increase of 23%.
Domestic sales remained the backbone of this performance, reaching 430,374 units, up from 350,632 units last year — again showing a 23% rise. Meanwhile, export volumes for the same period climbed to 16,861 units, compared to 13,548 units previously, delivering a 24% improvement year-on-year.
Sharing his views on the results, Veejay Nakra, President – Farm Equipment Business at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., highlighted that January’s domestic sales growth was supported by good reservoir levels and strong Rabi sowing activity.
He added that expected government initiatives and increased rural spending could further strengthen agriculture and farm mechanisation in the coming months.
He also pointed out that export sales touched 2,159 tractors in January, registering a substantial 72% growth, reinforcing Mahindra’s expanding global footprint.
