Tractor Sales Report September 2026: Mahindra Leads as Industry Sales Rise 13.75%

The total tractor sales in India in September 2026 were 76,906 units, an increase from September 2025, which saw 67,612 units sold. This is an increase of about 13.75% compared to the previous year.

International Tractors Limited (ITL), John Deere and Escorts Kubota also gained market share from the corresponding period of last year, while Mahindra & Mahindra continued to dominate the tractor market.

Mahindra & Mahindra accounted for 20% of the tractor sales

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (Tractor Division) led the pack with the highest sales of 18,223 tractors during September 2026, whereas it sold 15,524 units in September 2025. Its market share increased from 22.96% to 23.70%.

On the other hand, the company's sales rose by approximately 17.38% YOY, reinforcing its position as the number one tractor maker.

Swaraj Division records better growth

In September 2026, Swaraj sold 13,975 tractors, a 21% rise from 11,564 units in the same period last year, as per the latest available data.

This translates to growth of around 20.85%. Swaraj's market share increased as well from 17.10% in September 2025 to 18.17% in September 2026.

International Tractors Limited is making headway in the market. International Tractors Limited is gaining ground in the market.

In September 2026, International Tractors Limited (ITL) sold 10,159 tractors, while in September 2025, they sold 7,995 tractors.

Y-o-Y growth of around 27.08% and 11.82% to 13.21% in terms of market share marked the growth of the company.

TAFE sales grew by 3%, while market share fell by 2%.TAFE sales increase by 3% and market share drops by 2%.

In September 2026, TAFE Limited sold 8,605 tractors, while in September 2025 the sales totalled 7,944 units.

The sales rose approximately 8.32% YoY. Nevertheless, although the sales were up, it lost a bit of its market share from 11.75% to 11.19%.

Escorts Japan is seeing double-digit growth

In September 2026, Agri Machinery Group of Escorts Kubota Limited sold 7,772 tractors, while in September 2025, the sales were 6,692.

The company had a growth of about 16.14%, and the market share increased from 9.90% to 10.11%.

John Deere gained more market share

The sales of John Deere India's tractors during September 2026 were 6,007 units, increasing from 4,771 units in September 2025.

This is a significant improvement of nearly 25.91% on a year-over-year basis. John Deere’s market share also increased from 7.06% to 7.81%.

Eicher Tractor Sales Increase

In September 2026, Eicher Tractors sold 4,410 Tractors, whereas in September 2025, Eicher Tractors sold 3,995 Tractors.

Sales increased by approximately 10.39%. But it saw its market share drop marginally, from 5.91% to 5.73%.

CNH Industrial records moderate growth

CNH Industrial India's sales for the month of September 2026 rose to 3,456 tractors, up from 3,203 in September 2025.

The company's market share fell from 4.74% to 4.49%, and the revenue increased by approximately 7.90% over the last year.

Other tractor makers experienced losses.

Other tractor manufacturers' combined sales were 4,299 units in September 2026, compared with 5,924 units in September 2025.

That's about 27.43% less than that. The market share of all four together also decreased significantly from 8.76% to 5.59%.

Overall Tractor Market Performance

The overall tractor sales grew by around 13.75% from 67,612 units in September 2025 to 76,906 units in September 2026.

According to the September 2026 data, most of the big tractor producers saw year-on-year growth. Mahindra held its position as the top brand, while other brands, such as Swaraj, ITL, John Deere and Escorts Kubota, strengthened their market share.

Across the organised tractor market, the sales result for September is positive overall, with the top OEMs getting a bigger share of the market than last year.
